(Guthrie Center, IA) — Wins have not come easily to a young AC/GC Softball team — the Chargers are 3-13 but they broke a six game losing streak with a 12-8 win at Perry. They played number two ranked Interstate 35 tough in a 2nd game of a DH before falling 6-2. Head Coach Tyler Merical says they have grown in many ways
In the circle, the Chargers are using two young pitchers — Freshman Jerzee Huss is 2-7 with a 5.07 ERA and Sophomore Megan Underwood has a 6.03 ERA and a 1-6 mark. The numbers on the surface are not impressive but Merical says they have improved
Offensively, Huss is hitting .341 — another freshman Kailee Kautzky is batting .342. There are only two seniors and they are both producing — Caydence Boals leads the team with a .381 average with 12 RBI and Karli Kautzky is batting .353
AC/GC will visit #11 Pleasantville in a West Central Conference DH tonight.
