(Iowa) — Voter turnout in the Iowa Primary election was up this year. Secretary of State Paul Pate says 19 percent of registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s election. That’s up from 16 percent in 2022. Voters selected party nominees for Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, state and local races. The nominees will face off in the November General Election.
Oskaloosa Pride Moves Forward as Planned Despite Objections from Religious Group
(Oskaloosa, IA) — Oskaloosa Pride is moving forward despite concerns raised by a religious group over a planned drag show performance. The second annual Pride event scheduled for June 6 at the Oskaloosa city square will feature live music, a guest speaker, DJ performances, and a drag show. A community member spoke at the Oskaloosa City Council meeting earlier this week, claiming that the drag performance violates a city ordinance prohibiting adult entertainment at public events. City leaders say the event complies with local code and may proceed as scheduled.
IA DNR Getting $1.1M From EPA To Support Air Quality Programs
(Washington, D.C.) — The Iowa DNR is getting more than one million dollars for environmental programs. The funding from the Environmental Protection Agency will go toward air quality programs in Linn and Polk Counties. The EPA says its staff will also help with CenSARA [[sense-AIR-uh]] air quality studies and emissions inventories in the state to offset costs.
Tickets Available for Field of Dreams Games in Dyersville

The Iowa Cubs will face the St. Paul Saints on August 11th, followed by a major league matchup between the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies on August 13th.
