(Glenwood, IA) — Glenwood’s Drake Buthe has decided to play football out of state — the offensive lineman will attend the University of Minnesota.
Buthe is a 6’5″ 265 pound Junior who will be in the recruiting class of 2027. He is rated as the 15th best prospect in Iowa and the #77 interior offensive lineman by 247Sports.
Buthe was not on the radar of Iowa, Iowa St. and Nebraska — instead he reportedly chose Minnesota over UCF, Army, Colorado State, Miami (OH), Missouri State, Navy, Northern Illinois, UConn, Western Michigan, and Wyoming.
On his post on X, Buthe thanked his parents for their sacrifice, “From the long hours travelling, countless conversations and every piece of advice. I couldn’t thank you enough. You have shaped me into the person I am today.” He thanked his extended family, coaches, friends and teammates. He also thanked Minnesota Head Coach PJ Fleck and Offensive Line Coach Brian Callahan “for the opportunity you have given me to live out my lifelong dream.”
