(Greenfield, IA) — In softball action tonight, Griswold CAM will visit Nodaway Valley in a non conference game, coverage on KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV.
The Tigers are 5-0 and have pounded the ball — hitting .462 as a team and scoring 85 runs, averaging 17 runs a game. In their last game on Monday, Griswold CAM beat Stanton 20-2 as Courtney Follmann hit two home runs including a grand slam. Head Coach Jody Rossell says she is a great teammate and a great all around athlete
Sophomore Ailey Wahlert leads Griswold CAM in the circle and has only allowed one earned run in her first 16 innings of the season. The Tigers had one other non conference game this season and won 6-5 over Earlham; Rossell says its good to see another good team
Nodaway Valley is 3-2 and coming off a 13-4 win over Lenox on Tuesday night. The Wolverines are also swinging a hot bat — hitting .349 as a team. Senior Emma Boswell is batting .455, 1 HR, 4 RBI to lead the way but they are getting production from Freshman Chloe Ohms who is hitting .571 with 6 RBI; Co Head Coach Ryan Zenor says she has emerged as one of the leaders of the team
The pitching is better for the Wolverines — Sophomore Ella Boswell and 8th grader Ellie Zenor have thrown the bulk of the innings and have a 3.28 and 3.09 ERA respectively. Zenor says the defense has to improve — of the 25 runs scored against them, only 10 have been earned. Zenor is looking forward to face the Tigers
