(Red Oak) A Red Oak man was cited following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning in Red Oak.
According to the Red Oak Police Department, 37-year-old Brandon Gugenhan, of Red Oak, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on N. Broadway when he failed to see a 2007 Honda Odyssey stopped at the traffic light at Cherry Street. Gugenhan’s pickup struck the rear of the Odyssey, which was driven by 81-year-old Robert Sunquist, of Red Oak.
Authorities say Sunquist pulled into the Hy-Vee parking lot following the collision, but Gugenhan left the scene traveling eastbound on Cherry Street.
Sunquist was evaluated by Red Oak Rescue personnel and released at the scene.
Officers later located Gugenhan’s truck, and he admitted to being involved in the accident and failing to stop. He was cited for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, and Fraudulent Use of Registration.
