(Prairie City) One person suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision in Jasper County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Saturday at around 9:55 p.m. at Highway 163 and Prairie Avenue in Prairie City. Authorities say 19-year-old Aden Vanekeren of Prairie City and 22-year-old Paige Trunnel of Ankeny were injured in the crash.
According to the report, Vanekeren, driving a 2007 Chevy Impala southbound on Prairie Avenue, approached Highway 163, entered the intersection, and struck a 2021 Subaru Outback driven by Trunnel. Both vehicles ended up in the median west of the intersection.
Mercy Air transported Vanekeren to the Mercy Medical Center, and after further evaluation, Vanekeren was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital. The Iowa State Patrol says Trunnel was self-transported to Methodist Hospital.
