(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Rob Clausen announced at Wednesday’s City Council meeting that the 22nd Street project is now open.
This project is a major street reconstruction running along West 22nd Street from 7th Street to Palm Street, covering roughly 0.77 miles. The work included full pavement reconstruction, grading, Stormwater and drainage improvements, ADA and curb improvements, and associated roadway infrastructure work.
Clausen also applauded the City and County Crews for teaming up on a project at the Atlantic Cemetery.
Clausen also announced that the Sunnyside Pool and the Splashpad are on track to open on May 29.
Lastly, a large group of elementary students has been helping clean up the community over two separate days.
*The Council also approved the closing of 6th Street between Poplar Street and the alley on Monday, June 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Atlantic Public Library’s Summer Kick-Off event.
*Approved and ordered to accept County Held tax sales for three parcels.
*Approved the reappointment of Dana Halder to the Airport Tall Structure Zoning Board of Adjustment.
*Approved legally setting off fireworks within City Limits on July 2, July 3, and July 4.
*Approved the sale of real estate at 411 Birch Street to Paul and Kristi Wegner. The Wegners intend to build a $300,000 home on the vacant lot.
