(Iowa) With Memorial Day and Iowa’s June 2 Primary Election both approaching, Secretary of State Paul Pate has a message for Iowa veterans as they prepare to vote, as well as for the Iowans who want to honor them.
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate says two cornerstone programs from his office, Honor a Veteran and Veterans for Voting, are designed to support veterans and encourage civic participation.
Pate said the Veterans for Voting initiative partners with veteran organizations across Iowa to provide tools, resources, and election information to veterans. He said the program works with organizations including VFW posts, American Legion chapters, and the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs.
Pate also emphasized that military members and Iowans serving overseas can still participate in elections while away from home. He said his office has expanded voting access for military and overseas voters by increasing the amount of time they have to request, receive, and return absentee ballots.
