(Atlantic) The entire Atlantic girls’ track and field squad earned this week’s KS95.7 Armour Insurance Athletes of the Week for winning the Hawkeye Ten Conference Track and Field Title this past week in the meet held at the Glenwood track.
Stellah Van Aernam led the Trojans with four conference championships, winning the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and helping Atlantic capture both the 4×200 and 4×100-meter relays. Lila Wiederstein finished in third in the 100 Meters and fifth in the 200.
The Trojans won the 4×200 Meter relay in 1:47.51 with Emerie Jones, Braeyleigh Hass, Allison Middents, and Van Aernam.
Jayci Reed earned two conference titles as part of the winning Shuttle Hurdle Relay team alongside Azia Jones, Emerie Jones, and Adler Bruce. Jayci Reed earned another gold medal as part of the 4×100-meter relay team that sealed the championship for the Trojans. The quad included Lila Wiederstein, Reed, Allison Middents, and Van Aernam.
Atlantic also picked up key points from Reed’s second-place finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Adler Bruce and Katrina Williams picked up other key points with a third- and fifth-place finish in the 400 Meter Hurdles.
The 4×400 Meter Relay Team of Hass, Harlan, Hickman, and Mendez-Cordero brought home a fifth place finish in the 4×400 Meter Relay.
The 4×800 relay team of Reese Harlan, Kaitlyn Hickman, Ximena Mendez-Cordero, and Williams earned third-place honors.
The 800 Sprint Medley Relay Team of A. Jones, Middents, Reed, and Hass finished in third in a time of 1:54.92.
The Distance Medley Relay Team of A. Jones, Taylee Hagen, Reese Harlan, and Bella Brock finished fourth in the Distance Medley.
Lila Wiederstein added a fourth-place finish in the long jump, Emerie Jones finished sixth, while Adler Bruce finished fourth in the High Jump, and Katina Williams finished eighth. Olivia Olson scored a fourth-place finish in the Discus, and Faith Larsen came in fifth. Olson placed fifth in the Shot Put, and Larsen finished in eighth. Gabrielle Engler finished seventh in the 1500 and 3000. Mendez-Cordero picked up an eighth-place finish in the 800 Meters.
