(Des Moines) Iowa motorists are paying less at the pump this week, according to the latest AAA Weekly Fuel Report.
The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa fell 10 cents from last week to $4.03 per gallon as of Wednesday. The statewide average is $1.15 higher than it was one year ago. The national average for regular unleaded gasoline was $4.10 per gallon, up one cent from last week.
Diesel prices in Iowa moved in the opposite direction, rising 16 cents this week to an average of $5.41 per gallon. That is $1.89 higher than the Iowa average of $3.52 per gallon one year ago. Iowa’s current diesel price is 21 cents below the national average of $5.62.
Crude oil prices also declined this week. West Texas Intermediate crude fell $3.54 to $81.77 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped $3.69 to $87.74 per barrel.
Natural gas prices rose six cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.91 per MMBtu.
AAA will resume reporting retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa in October.
