(Glenwood) Lewis Central won six events and finished second is six others and captured the team title with 154-points at the Hawkeye Ten Conference Meet at Glenwood on Thursday. Atlantic finished runner-up with 101 points. The Trojans won three events, and finished second in two others, and finished Conference runner up with 101.
Lewis Central turned in a strong overall performance, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes and depth across both track and field events. Kevin Coots led the way with an impressive triple victory, winning the 3000 meters in 10:11.74, the 800 meters in 1:59.82, and the 1600 meters in 4:27.30. The team also captured first in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:00.29, Billy Gerry tied for first in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.84, and the distance medley relay took gold in 3:42.53. Additional strong performances included Joey Mazzella placing second in the 800 meters (2:00.69), Carter Lobaugh finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles (57.07), Kyler McNeal taking second in discus with a throw of 162-10, Peyton Phippen placing second in the long jump at 21-03.50, and Hunter Infanger earning second in the shot put with 53-11.75. Lewis Central also added relay points with a third-place finish in the 800 sprint medley (1:37.44) and the 4×400 relay (3:34.91), rounding out a well-balanced and competitive meet.
Atlantic put together a solid and competitive team performance, led by Ethan McNeal, who had an outstanding day winning both the 100 meters in 11.03 and the long jump with a mark of 23-03.75. Shelton Mualia also earned a first-place finish, tying in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.84. The 4×400 relay team of Ethan McNeal, Holden DeVore, Landon Hagen, and Mason Betts claimed first with a strong time of 3:28.55. Additional top finishes included second-place efforts from the shuttle hurdle relay (1:01.35) and distance medley relay (3:46.84), along with several scoring performances across the meet. Mason Betts placed third in the 3000 meters (10:29.82) and also ran fourth in the 1600 meters (4:44.06), while Sawyer Tarrell took third in the 400-meter hurdles (57.07). Gavin McLaren added a third-place finish in shot put (53-00.75) and fifth in discus (144-07). Other contributors included Grant Petty finishing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.64), Zander Killion placing seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (16.69), and Skyler Burcham taking eighth in the high jump (5-08.00). Atlantic also earned team points in the relays, including fourth in the 4×800 (8:37.52), fifth in the 800-sprint medley (1:39.55), seventh in both the 4×200 (1:34.26) and 4×100 (45.54). Glenwood finished third with 99.5 points highlighted by Chase Razor’s first-place finish in the high jump with a clearance of 6-06.00. The Rams were especially strong in the relays, earning second place in the 4×200 (1:30.73), 4×100 (42.88), and 4×400 (3:29.00), showing speed and depth across sprint events. Glenwood also picked up a third-place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay (1:01.37), along with several key individual scoring performances. Aiden Lopez placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.33, while Reese Montgomery earned third in the 800 meters in 2:00.79. In the field events, Todd Schmitt took third in the discus with a throw of 153-05, and Evan Stanislav added a strong third-place finish in the high jump at 6-02.00, helping round out a balanced and competitive effort for Glenwood.
Clarinda finished fourth with 95 points. Clarinda had a strong showing across both track and field events, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 4×100 relay with a time of 42.76. Nolan Wagoner led the way individually with an impressive all-around performance, placing second in the 400 meters (51.20) and adding third-place finishes in the 200 meters (22.53) and long jump (21-01.00). Cooper Baumgart also earned a runner-up finish in the high jump, clearing 6-04.00. Additional scoring efforts included Cohen Phillips placing third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.14, and Todd Schmitt finishing third in the discus with a throw of 153-05, helping round out a solid team performance for Clarinda.
Shenandoah finished fifth with 80.5 points highlighted by three first-place finishes across track and field events. The 800-sprint medley relay captured gold in 1:35.48, while Cole Graham earned an individual victory in the 400 meters with a time of 50.67. Simon Hennings added another win for Shenandoah in the discus, throwing 165-04. The team also had solid sprint contributions, with Gabe Buttry placing second in the 200 meters in 22.45. Relay squads continued to score points, as the 4×200 team finished third in 1:32.38 and the 4×100 relay placed third in 43.69, rounding out a balanced and competitive effort for Shenandoah.
Red Oak finished sixth with 55 points led by led by a pair of standout performances from Cale Hall. Hall claimed first place in the 200 meters with a time of 22.20 and added a second-place finish in the 100 meters at 11.07. The team also earned a victory in the 4×800 relay, finishing in 8:17.49. Emmanuel Grass contributed a solid second-place finish in the 1600 meters, running 4:29.80. Red Oak also picked up additional team points with fifth-place finishes in both the distance medley relay (3:51.30) and the 4×400 relay (3:40.88).
Harlan finished in seventh place with 46. The 800 sprint medley relay earned second place in 1:36.40, while Jeffrey Gross had a standout distance performance, placing second in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:21.28 and adding a fifth-place finish in the 1600 meters at 4:44.54. Foxx Argotsinger led the sprint group with a third-place finish in the 400 meters (51.90), followed by Sam Shields in fourth (53.99). Relay squads also contributed valuable points, including fifth-place finishes in the 4×200 (1:33.36) and 4×100 (44.07), along with an eighth-place finish in the distance medley relay (4:06.42). Additional individual efforts included Erik Heslink placing seventh in the 3200 meters (10:55.69), Ayden Redmon-Stephenson finishing eighth in the 100 meters (11.45), and Carson Baughman taking eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.2), while the shuttle hurdle relay placed seventh in 1:12.90 to round out the meet.
Creston finished eighth with 33. The team was led by Thomas Mikkelsen, who delivered a strong throwing performance, winning the shot put with a mark of 55-06.75 and adding a sixth-place finish in the discus at 142-03. The distance group also had solid results, highlighted by Wyatt Goodenberger placing third in the 1600 meters in 4:37.40 and Jameson Hanson finishing seventh in the 800 meters at 2:06.60. Additional scoring came from Matthew Warner, who placed eighth in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:50.85. In the relays, the 4×800 team earned second place in 8:31.75, while the 800-sprint medley relay finished eighth in 1:43.08 and the 4×400 relay placed eighth in 3:48.04, rounding out a balanced effort across events.
Denison-Schleswig finished ninth with 26 points. Kevin Sanchez led the way individually, placing fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:31.83 and adding a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters in 2:04.64. The team also earned multiple relay finishes, including sixth place in the 800 sprint medley (1:40.14), 4×200 (1:34.16), 4×100 (45.30), and 4×400 (3:41.88), showing consistent depth throughout the sprint lineup. In the field and middle-distance events, Grant Olson added a seventh-place finish in the high jump at 5-08.00 and also placed eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 54.93. The distance medley relay rounded out the scoring with a seventh-place finish in 4:00.39, completing a balanced effort for Denison-Schleswig.
Kuemper, Catholic tied with the Monarchs with 26 points. The distance medley relay led the way with a third-place finish in 3:48.77, while the 4×800 relay added a fifth-place finish in 8:45.59. The shuttle hurdle relay also scored with a fifth-place effort in 1:08.67. In the field events, Griffin Glynn placed fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 6-00.00, and Nash Leonard took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 45-00.50. Sprint events added more points, with Brayton Alford finishing seventh in the 100 meters (11.42) and eighth in the 200 meters (23.79). Thomas Pottebaum placed eighth in the 800 meters at 2:06.60, while relay squads rounded out the scoring with eighth-place finishes in the 4×200 (1:38.41) and 4×100 (45.96), showing depth and effort throughout the meet.
St, Albert finished in 11th place with 24 points. The team was led by Jackson Walter, who delivered a strong performance with a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.96. The distance relays also contributed valuable points, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:34.83. Aiden Gaul added a seventh-place finish in the 1600 meters, running 4:49.13, while Brady Smith placed eighth in the 3000 meters at 10:59.98. The 4×400 relay also earned a seventh-place finish in 3:47.73, rounding out a competitive effort with contributions across multiple events.
