(Harlan, IA) — The Harlan girls soccer team has been hovering around the .500 mark the last two seasons and that is where they are right now — 2-2 with wins over Riverside and Carroll and loses to Kuemper Catholic and St. Albert. The Cyclones have a new Head Coach this year — Harlan native Chelsey Buman has played at Buena Vista and is heavily involved in youth soccer in the region. Buman has taken over this team and has made some immediate changes which she says the girls have adapted well to
There are four seniors on this year’s team — Lily Schechinger, Lauren Schmitz, Emercyn Reischl, and leading scorer Carly Torneten who has 5 goals and 3 assists to start the season. Buman she understands the game of soccer
The goalie is only a sophomore — Ellie Albertsen — but Buman says she has become an important player on the team
Next up for Harlan is a home match against East Sac County on Thursday.
