(Iowa City, IA) — Iowa Hawkeyes Freshman Guard Addie Deal has announced on social media that she is entering the transfer portal.
According to Deal’s post on X, “Thank you to my amazing teammates, all the incredible wonderful fans, my business partners and the Iowa City community for their support over my first year. I have learned a lot during my freshman season and look forward to grow as a result. Playing in the Big Ten Conference title game and making the Big Ten All Freshman team will always be things for which I am so thankful. That said, I have made the very difficult decision to enter the transfer portal.”
Deal started three games this past season for Iowa but played in 34 games, averaging 5.1 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game and shot 30 percent from three point land. Deal’s three starts came after Taylor McCabe went down with a torn ACL against Ohio St. but only scored three points in losses at USC and at UCLA in 38 total minutes. After Iowa lost to Minnesota, Taylor Stremlow replaced Deal in the line up and stayed there the rest of the season.
Deal was a highly rated recruit out of Irvine, CA — ESPN ranked her as the number 18 prospect in the 2025 class and she was listed as a five star prospect.
Iowa will also lose seniors Kylie Feuerbach, Hannah Stuelke, Taylor McCabe, and Jada Gyamfi. Currently, Head Coach Jan Jensen has one incoming freshman recruit, highly touted McKenna Woliczko from San Jose, CA.
