(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board approved a construction management group for its upcoming construction and renovation projects during Wednesday’s meeting.
The board held a special meeting Tuesday evening to interview four companies. At Wednesday’s meeting, members approved DCI Group of Des Moines to oversee the construction and renovation projects and coordinate with subcontractors.
In November, voters approved a General Obligation Bond not to exceed $22.5 million. The funding will be used to build, furnish, and equip classroom additions and a new secure entrance at Washington Elementary; construct a new skybridge and commons area between Schuler Elementary and the Middle School; and add classroom space at the High School. The bond also covers related building and site improvements at each facility, along with remodeling, repairs, and upgrades to existing educational facilities, including additional secure entrance improvements, as well as media center and commons area improvements at the High School.
Also on Wednesday, the board held public hearings on the proposed property tax levy and the 2026–2027 school calendar. The calendar was approved later in the meeting.
