(Iowa) — Two Iowa U.S. Representatives are pressing Whirlpool for answers after the company announced almost 350 layoffs at its Amana facility. Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Ashley Hinson sent a letter Monday to CEO Marc Bitzer, expressing concern about the impact on the community and questioning the company’s expansion of manufacturing in Mexico. Whirlpool told Iowa’s News Now the layoffs are part of a modernization plan intended to make the Amana plant more stable. Miller-Meeks and Hinson asked Whirlpool for a response by this Friday.

Nationwide, prenatal care early in a pregnancy is at its lowest since 2016.
Iowa History Month: Bracket-Style Contest Will Decide Most Influential Early Iowan
(Iowa) — The State Historical Society of Iowa is asking the public to vote in its March Madness-style bracket tournament to identify the most influential early Iowan. All month long, Iowans can learn more about each of the 32 influential figures from Iowa’s history before 1920. They can then vote on which one should advance to the next round of the tournament. Votes can be cast on the State Historical Society of Iowa’s website.
