(Red Oak) Police in Red Oak have arrested a man on multiple charges, including a felony connected to the use of an explosive device, after investigating a loud blast reported late Tuesday night near the 600 block of Hammond Street.
When officers responded to the scene, they discovered an exploded device next to the Methodist Church. Surveillance footage obtained shortly afterward allegedly showed a man lighting the device and then running into a nearby apartment building.
Authorities from the Red Oak Police Department, assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, later executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Reed Street. At approximately 10:42 p.m., officers arrested 42-year-old Matthew David Sloan of Red Oak.
Sloan has been charged with:
- Possession of an Incendiary Device with Intent, a Class C felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor
- Disorderly Conduct (Loud Noise), a simple misdemeanor
He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and is being held on a $10,000 bond
