(Villisca) The Villisca Fire Department responded to two grass fire incidents on Sunday, both of which were contained without injuries.
At approximately 1:04 p.m., Villisca firefighters were dispatched to the area of J20 and Forest Avenue for a reported field and grass fire. Auto-aid assistance was provided by the Corning, Lenox, and Gravity Fire Departments. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire without incident, and no injuries were reported.
Later in the afternoon, at 2:57 p.m., the Villisca Fire Department was dispatched for mutual aid to the 2900 block of 150th Street near rural Hepburn for a grass fire that was threatening a residential structure. Firefighters successfully contained the blaze, preventing damage to nearby homes. No injuries were reported in that incident.
