(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors received an update Tuesday on the progress of the Tallgrass CO2 pipeline project, which is nearing the construction phase.
Matt Wyant, the county’s director of planning and development, told supervisors the project has reached the point where a permit has been issued and is ready to be picked up. Tallgrass officials are aiming to begin construction by the end of February.
Wyant said the portion of the project located in Pottawattamie County carries an estimated cost of $20 million and will span just over one mile.
Under state guidelines, the county is required to hire an independent inspector for the project, with the pipeline company covering the cost. Snyder & Associates was selected for that role. Kristina Paradise with Snyder & Associates said all affected landowners agreed to easements, and no eminent domain was used.
Wyant also noted he contacted the Lewis Township Fire Department to address any potential concerns related to the project. The department requested radio repeaters be installed in the building. Wyant said he relayed that request to Tallgrass, which agreed to submit a plan to address radio communication.
