(Lewis) Late muzzleloader season begins tomorrow, December 22, as well as the late split archery season.
John Lorenzen, appearing on the DNR report, says both seasons go until January 10. He says if you buy a late muzzleloader tag, you can legally use a muzzleloader, a handgun, or archery equipment.
Lorenzen says there is no party hunting during late muzzleloader season, so the person who killed the deer must tag it.
These seasons go both ten days into the new year. In case people are wondering, annual licenses, stamps, and fees expire on January 10, so you can hunt through the late muzzleloader season with your 2025 license; however, keep in mind you can hunt other species, such as quail, squirrel, or rabbits, as those seasons extend beyond January 10. Hunters will need to get a 2026 hunting license to hunt them past that date.
