(Des Moines) Iowa drivers are seeing some relief at the pump as the average price of regular unleaded gasoline fell 5 cents over the past week to $2.48 per gallon, according to AAA.
Global crude oil prices declined this week. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped $1.87 per barrel to $56.25, while Brent crude fell $1.88 to $59.91 per barrel. One year ago, WTI was trading at $70.31 per barrel and Brent at $73.16.
Motor Fuels
- Regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa averaged $2.48 per gallon as of Wednesday, down 5 cents from last week and 21 cents lower than a year ago.
- The national average price for regular unleaded was $2.91, a 3-cent decrease from last week.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell 11 cents this week to an average of $3.39 per gallon.
- A year ago, diesel averaged $3.25 per gallon in Iowa.
- Iowa’s current diesel price is 25 cents below the national average of $3.64.

- Unleaded 87 (clear): $1.69
- ULSD #2: $1.95

- E-70: $1.72 per gallon
Heating Fuels
- Natural gas prices fell 62 cents at the Henry Hub to $3.99 per MMbtu.
- Propane prices in Iowa averaged $1.55 per gallon.
- Home heating oil averaged $2.93 per gallon statewide.
