(Guthrie Center, IA) — EMS service continued to a major topic at Tuesday’s Guthrie County Supervisors meeting
The first item on the agenda was public comments and Jill Albright of Guthrie County spoke to the supervisors saying she is not happy with the discussions so far and said the supervisors are ignoring the rural portions of the county
Albright is concerned that the supervisors are walking on a path to raising property taxes and confronted Supervisor Brian Johnson about it
Later in the meeting when EMS came up on the agenda, the supervisors continued the debate about the representation on a committee. Last week, the supervisors were leaning towards a voting committee and an ad hoc committee but Mike Dickson believed it should represent the entire county
John DeLavergne, the Director of the Panora Ambulance service says he was on the committee the last time and says funding EMS by grants is playing with fire because grants can go away. He says whoever serves the committee must understand the system
Emotions were very high with rigorous discussion. Supervisor Maggie Armstrong is very concerned about EMS coverage in Bayard. Dickson wanted all the towns like Menlo and Casey to be represented. The Supervisors did not make any final decision but vowed to continue to talk with areas of the county and determine who will be on the committee and its format.
