(Area) The U.S. Postal Service 2025 holiday mailing and shipping deadlines are approaching.
The guidance applies to mail sent for Hanukkah (Dec. 14–22), Christmas (Dec. 25), Kwanzaa (Dec. 26–Jan. 1), and other seasonal celebrations. USPS officials say the earlier items are shipped, the better the chance they’ll reach their destinations on time.
For the contiguous United States, the recommended send-by dates are:
-Dec. 17 for USPS Ground Advantage® and First-Class Mail®
-Dec. 18 for Priority Mail®
-Dec. 20 for Priority Mail Express®
Deadlines differ slightly for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other U.S. territories:
-Dec. 16 for USPS Ground Advantage®
-Dec. 17 for First-Class Mail®
-Dec. 18 for Priority Mail®
-Dec. 20 for Priority Mail Express®
USPS encourages customers not to wait until the cutoff dates, noting that heavy holiday volume can cause delays.
