(Denison) All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility task vehicles (UTVs) are popular recreational and utility vehicles across Iowa, but operating them on public roads comes with specific rules. One of those rules is the 35-mile-per-hour speed limit.
The law allows ATVs and UTVs to travel on paved roadways, allowing operators to get from point A to point B using the shortest available route. Iowa State Patrol Trooper and District #4 Public Information Officer Shelby McCreedy advises that, to utilize this new law, your ATV or UTV must display a slow-moving vehicle sign and obey the 35-mile-per-hour maximum speed limit.
