(Red Oak, IA) — The Girls Tennis Regionals were played on Wednesday and Region 1 in Class 1A was originally scheduled in Atlantic but moved at the last minute to the indoor facility in Red Oak because of the weather. Shenandoah took home the singles and doubles champion — Gabi Jacobs lost just three points in her four matches to take the singles title while Jaylan Gray and Lyla Mather won at doubles.
Lily Willrich of Atlantic had a solid third place finish in singles for Atlantic — Willrich lost to Jacobs in the semifinals but won the third place match 7-5. Jacobi Harter of Atlantic went 2-1 on the day losing in the quarterfinals.
Audubon got wins from both their doubles teams in the first round — Briley Belnap and Marie Boehm and Vivian Jackson and Reagan Hoffman but both teams lost in the quarterfinals.
Harlan’ Rebekah Christensen won her first round match but lost to Willrich in the quarterfinals. Anastacia Kay and Chloe Swensen won in the prelim round of doubles but lost their next match.
Hailey Randall and Sidney Crill had the only win on the day for Southwest Valley in doubles.
