(Harlan, IA) — Harlan is facing an unusual situation in their football season right now — the Cyclones are staring an 0-3 record straight in the face but as you might guess, Head Coach Todd Bladt does not like to dwell on the past. He says there is still a lot of football left and he is right, district play has not even started yet. Harlan has one more “pre-season game” as he says and its all about improving
Bladt identified three areas that must improve going forward: missed tackles, creating and eliminating big plays and most importantly turnover margin. QB Gabe Arkfeld has thrown for 492 yards and 3 TD but 4 interceptions. Bladt emphasizes it is not one player’s fault but does say Arkfeld must improve his decision making
At the beginning of the season, Bladt wanted to involve Arkfeld more in the running game but the offense has not been able to run as much because they have been behind. Bladt is hoping to get back to it
0-3 Harlan visits 0-3 Denison Schleswig this Friday night.
