(Carroll, IA) — On Monday night, Carroll High School voted to accept the invitation to join the Hawkeye Ten Conference. The following is a statement from Superintendent Casey Berlau and was given to the school board at Monday’s meeting:
“In response to the Hawkeye Ten Activities conference, the administration recommends accepting the invitation from the
Hawkeye Ten conference. This recommendation is based on careful consideration of the feedback received from a
survey sent to coaches, students, and families, as well as input gathered at the public meeting held on September 10,
2025.
Timing – We would move to the Hawkeye 10 in the 2027-2028 school year, with the possibility of joining in the
2026-2027 school year if the conference bylaws and regulations in each conference allow us to begin in the 2026-2027
school year. Both the Hawkeye 10 conference and the Raccoon River Conference would have to approve moving up
the timeline to enter the Hawkeye 10 conference.”
Carroll’s move to the H-10 gives the conference some stability after Red Oak and Shenandoah decided to leave for the Western Iowa Conference and Lewis Central left for the Missouri River Conference. When Carroll joins, it will bring the membership to 9 schools with Atlantic, Clarinda, Creston, Denison Schleswig, Glenwood, Harlan, Kuemper Catholic, and St. Albert.
With Carroll leaving the Raccoon River, its membership goes to 8 schools: ADM, Ballard, Bondurant Farrar, Boone, Carlisle, Gilbert, North Polk and Winterset.
Treynor had also received an invitation to join the Hawkeye Ten but the Cardinals decided to remain in the WIC.
