(Harlan) The Harlan City Council has approved the third and final reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 69.08 of the city’s Code of Ordinances, creating new no-parking zones on Dye Street and Gary Scull Drive. The ordinance prohibits vehicles from stopping, standing, or parking between posted signs on curves along those streets, except when necessary to avoid traffic conflicts or when directed by law enforcement or traffic signals.
The Council approved a resolution approving the purchase agreement concept for conveying city-owned property in the G.H. Christiansen subdivision. The purchase agreement is set at $1,000 per lot until September 30, 2026, with construction to begin within 12-months of purchase, unless otherwise agreed. There are nine lots available for purchase.
The council also approved the Iowa DOT 2025 Street Finance Report; the certificate of completion for the 2024 sanitary sewer rehabilitation project; and the City of Harlan Employee Morale and Recognition Policy.
