(Ankeny, IA) — A large-scale fire at a townhome complex in Ankeny has left several families displaced. Fire crews responded to the structure fire in the 14-hundred block of Twin Gates Drive around 4 p.m. yesterday. Additional assistance from neighboring fire departments was requested, as crews were split into several groups to extinguish the fire and search for occupants in adjacent townhomes. At least four units suffered significant damage, with several residents displaced as a result. Two firefighters were treated for minor burns to their wrists, as the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
