(Southwest Iowa) The Community Foundation for Western Iowa announced Wednesday that the Women’s Fund of Southwest Iowa has awarded $95,000 in its latest grant cycle, funding 13 organizations dedicated to improving the lives of women and children across the region.
The Women’s Fund, launched in 2018 as an initiative of the Community Foundation, focuses on four key areas: affordable childcare, women’s health and safety, education for women of all ages, and aging in place. Since its creation, the Fund has awarded more than $475,000 in grants throughout its nine-county service area.
This year’s grants support projects ranging from childcare and wellness initiatives to programs addressing domestic violence, homelessness, and online exploitation.
To further spotlight these issues, the Community Foundation will host its third biennial IMPACT for Women Summit on Thursday, September 25, at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. The event will feature conversations with experts in the Fund’s four focus areas, along with keynote speaker Marlee Matlin, the Academy Award-winning actress, author, and activist.
Tickets are $89, with sponsorships beginning at $1,250, and can be purchased at www.givewesterniowa.org or by calling 712-256-7007.
