(Harlan, IA) — Harlan’s baseball game with Kuemper Catholic was rained out last night but they will make it up today at Noon. The Cyclones are 6-4 on the season and coming off a doubleheader sweep of Atlantic but it was not easy. Harlan won game one 11-8 — after giving up five runs in the top of the 2nd, they answered with 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. In game two, Harlan had to rally scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th and won it in extra innings 4-3. Head Coach Heath Stein said the Trojans did not give in one bit
At the beginning of the season, Stein was concerned with his pitching staff and so far in the season’s first 10 games, he has thrown 11 different hurlers. Sophomore Gavin Eck currently leads the staff with three starts and a 1.29 ERA and Freshman Gavin Sisson
Offensively, Sophomore Cade Nelson is hitting .414 with 7 RBIs and Stein says other guys have been consistent and others are just now breaking out of early season slumps
After today’s make up game with KC, Harlan will visit Lewis Central on Thursday and finish the week with a long road trip to Le Mars on Friday.
