(Clarinda) The Clarinda Police Department is reminding residents that with the changing weather, there’s often an increase in vehicle break-ins. These incidents typically involve individuals walking through neighborhoods and checking for unlocked cars. Police urge everyone to make sure their car doors are locked and valuables are removed. Most break-ins target unlocked vehicles — if a car is locked, suspects usually move on. While some think leaving a vehicle unlocked avoids window damage, break-ins involving broken windows are actually rare.
