(Neola, IA) — Tri Center’s Girls Track and Field team will try to make an impact in the Class 2A team standings at this week’s state meet. The Trojans have 10 entries at the blue oval and there are two relays that are number one seeds going into the competition. The Shuttle Hurdle prelims will be the first event of the meet with Zohie Payne, Layal Meador, Avilyn Kilpack and Quincey Schneckloth while the 4×800 relay with Schneckloth, Reese Dittmer, Tess Casey and Isah VanArsdol will run a couple of hours later. Head Coach Lexi Cochran says both relays have a chance to do something special
Last year, Schneckloth suffered from heat exhaustion on the first day of the state meet and it affected her the entire three days. This year she will be a favorite to be on the medal stand in Friday’s 400 Hurdles and Cochran is expecting her to get redemption
Also for Tri Center, VanArsdol will run in the 800; Zohie Payne and Layla Meador in the 100 Hurdles; 4×400; Sprint Medley; Distance Medley relays and Tess Casey will run in the open 400
For the Tri Center boys, Carter Kunze will be in the 400 and Long Jump; Haven Weers will run in the 1 mile and 2 mile and the boys 4×400, 4×800 and Distance Medley relays made it as well.
