(Harlan, IA) — The Harlan Cyclones have a great tradition of turning high school football players into college football players and Jozef Reisz is the latest — last week he announced his intention to play football for South Dakota St. Reisz chose the Jackrabbits over South Dakota and UNI where his older brother Franz is playing football but Reisz says that going to Brookings was the best fit for him
Reisz will play tight end for South Dakota St. — he was the leading receiver for Harlan this past season in that position with 50 receptions for over a thousand yards and 11 TD. Reisz was an impact player on defense as well but he says playing tight end was important to him and he looks to continue to grow there
The pipeline from Harlan to college is a strong one and Reisz says the reputation of the high school does not hurt in the recruiting process
Reisz got to be part of back to back state championship teams his freshman and sophomore seasons and there are many moments in a Cyclone uniform that stand out
Reisz says another reason South Dakota St. stood out was their ag business program which he plans on majoring in. Now with the decision behind him, Reisiz says the men’s basketball team wants to send Head Coach Mitch Osborn out on a high note and he wants to qualify for the state track and field meet in the discus.
