(Oakland, IA) — It was a one sided affair on Thursday night for Riverside a sweep against Griswold in a non-conference doubleheader.
In the girls contest, Riverside scored the games first 18 points and the Tigers could never recover in a 50-9 final. No misprint there, Riverside would double team Griswold every time they touched the ball and the Tigers would turn it over time after time. The Bulldogs led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and 32-2 at the half. Griswold (3-6) made just three baskets the entire game. Riverside (9-1) was led by Sophia Taylor and Elly Henderson each with 8 points. 12 different players scored for the Bulldogs — Sophia Fenner got 6 points all in the first quarter and talked about the win
In the boys game, it was Dawson Henderson early and then Owen Fenner got fire in the 2nd quarter as the Bulldogs ran away from Griswold 71-29. Riverside led 17-8 after one quarter thanks to Henderson’s 9 points. In the 2nd quarter, Fenner hit three straight threes — he had 11 in the quarter and 13 in the first half. Henderson finished with 18 points and Fenner had 16. Peyton Amdor was also in double figures with 13 and Brody Henderson added 11. Riverside (5-4) shot 43 percent for the game including 11-34 on their threes.
Griswold (3-6) had trouble holding onto the ball and had over 30 turnovers. Conner Bowers led the Tigers with 7 while Peyton Cook and Bradyen Lockwood each had 6. Bode Wyman was held to just 3.
