(Harlan, IA) — Harlan Boys Basketball Head Coach Mitch Osborn is closing in on 30 years of coaching the Cyclones — so far its been 28 years on the bench and 41 years total if you include Exira EHK and Pomeroy Palmer in the state of Iowa. This year, Harlan loses significant seniors off of last year’s 12-10 team but has Josef Reisz and Ben Leinen to lead the way. Reisz started every game he played in and averaged 6.8 ppg while Leinen played in every game starting 5 and averaged 5.4 ppg. Osborn is hoping these two will step up their scoring this year
Dallas McDowell will be the starting point guard, Kobe Klaassen and Caden Buck will round out the starters says Osborn
Osborn says that Gabe Arkfeld, Owen Neve, Hayden Soma all have experience and Bryce Van Baale came back out for basketball this year and will provide depth. Osborn said last year’s team was plagued by injuries so he just wants a healthy squad this year
Osborn says that the Hawkeye Ten Conference will be extremely competitive like it is every year
Harlan opens up their season on Friday, December 6 at Shenandoah
