(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer says the district race is a mess right now, with a handful of teams fighting for two spots. Atlantic travels to Perry on Friday for a week three Class 3A District #6 football game. The Trojans are (1-1) in district play and (5-2) overall. Perry is (2-4) in all games and (0-2) in the district.
The Trojans running game continues to shine with 2,383 rushing yards, a 7.8 yards per carry average, led by a trio of backs, Tyson O’Brien (1,279), chasing Tyler Moen’s single-season rushing record of 1,909 yards. Gavin McLaren has rushed for 499 yards, and Ethan McNeal, 204. The Trojans veteran offensive line deserves much of the credit.
Next up for the Trojans is Perry. Coach Brummer says the Blue Jays are a big, physical team with speed on the edge and a solid quarterback, Geren Kinney, who has passed for 335 yards and rushed for 378.
Coach Brummer says the Blue Jays use their speed to attempt to get around the edge. The Trojans’ linebackers Jake Wailes, Joaquin Wailes, Colin Rudy, and Carter Hadley will be on high alert.
The kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 F.M. and live video-streamed on westerniowatoday.com (KS95) and Youtube. The pregame show starts at 6:00 p.m.
