(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Football Coach Joe Brummer and his staff are preparing his football team for what could be their toughest test at Winteset on Friday night. The 4-0 Trojans take on a Huskie Football team carrying a 2-1 record into the final non-district game of the regular season. The Huskies enter the contest with 527 yards passing and 478 yards on the ground. Coach Brummer says Winterset lines up in many formations to keep defenses off balance.
Huskies quarterback Hunter Lyon is 37-53 passing for 522 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Wyatt Swanson and Jaydin Cooper are the two go-to receivers, with 188 and 178 receiving yards, respectively. Hank Wilmes is the primary ball carrier with 64 attempts for 374 yards.
Jace Bellamy leads the team in tackles with 23.5, Kahne Kiburz 16,5, and Gavin Day 13.5.
The Trojans have successfully run the football, particularly around the edges, led by a convoy of blockers piling up 1,368 yards for an impressive eight yards per carry. Tristan Hayes is 11-22, throwing the football for 276 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Trojans are off to their best start since 2002. Coach Brummer admits they don’t talk about the wins.
