(Atlantic) The Atlantic Trojans football team has been off to its best start since 2020, when it started the season 3-1 and finished 7-2, losing in the second round of the playoffs. The Trojans enter tomorrow nights contest following a signature win 35-34 in overtime win over Glenwood last week. The Trojans will face another tough test at home against Greene County this week. The Rams lost their opener to Carroll in Week 1 and topped Perry last week, 36-7. Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer credits the excellent start to the offseason work.
The entire squad is performing at a high level. Coach Brummer mentions Grant Petty, Hunter Nelson, and Carter Hadley on Defense when asked about some players who have surprised the staff. Hadley leads the team in tackles with 15.5 and two tackles for loss.
Coach Brummer says the four veterans on the offensive line are playing well. Newcomer Jack Muller, Quarterback Tristan Hayes. Running back Tyson O’Brien has 70 carries for 534 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 7.6 yards per carry. Hayes is 11-18 passing for 276 yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception.
Greene County brings a solid running attack to the game on Friday night. The Rams have 396 yards rushing in their first two outings, led by Nicolas Stream with 45 carries for 285 yards and a 6.3-yard per-carry average.
The Rams’ Senior Quarterback, Crew Conner, is 6 11, passing for 127 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Broc Stream leads the receiving corp with three catches for 32 yards and one touchdown. The Rams have some defenders that fly to the football. Christopher Daugherty had 25.5 tackles and 14 solos. Broc Stream and Camden Jacobs have one interception each, and Marcus Beel, Trevon Keely, and Camdem Strennen gobbled up one fumble.
