(Denison) Denison-Schleswig is coming off a solid offensive performance last week in a 41-28 win over Council Bluffs, Jefferson. The Monarchs rolled up 406 yards of total offense, 233 yards on the ground, and 173 yards through the air. Denison-Schleswig faces off against Harlan on Friday night.
Monarch’s Head Coach Willie Baughman admits the team’s success in the passing game answered many questions. First-year starting quarterback Grady Blaine completed 15-20 passes, including two touchdowns for 173 yards.
Cole Kastner had an outstanding game on both sides of the ball. The junior workhorse had four tackles, including two solos, and carried the ball 27 times for 202 yards on offense.
Coach Baughman’s goal this week is for his team to be more disciplined and reduce penalties and turnovers. The Monarchs fumbled twice in the Red Zone. Coach Baughman says they face a disciplined Harlan team that executes, which means the Monarchs must be much better than last week.
The Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. at Harlan.
