Former Atlantic Trojan Gratt Reed to Participate in Monday’s U.S. Olympic Trials Alongside Other Iowans

(Eugene, OR) – The Olympic Trials continue into today, Monday 24th. Multiple Iowa natives, including Atlantic’s Gratt Reed, will be participating in the finals taking place later this evening.

Atlantic’s Gratt Reed will be running the Men’s 110-meter Hurdles today around 7:05 p.m. in heat two, lane five. Reed is a six-time All-American in the sprints and hurdles for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Atlantic native has made his mark in the Iowa record books, running on school record-setting 4×100-meter (38.64) and shuttle hurdle relays (56.74). He has run on four of the top ten 4×100-meter relays in school history, ranks fourth in school history in the indoor 200 meters (20.82), fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (13.50), and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (7.72) and the outdoor 200 meters (20.54). Gratt is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Team member, a six-time UI Dean’s List student, and served as an ISAAC representative during his collegiate career.

He also was just recently named to the CSC Academic All-District honor. To be eligible for this award, you need to have a 3.50 GPA and place in the top 50 as an individual in your respective event that is based on TFRRS performance rankings.

Former Logan-Magnolia Panther, Alex Gochenour, is currently participating in the Heptathlon today which started around 12:00 p.m.

Other Iowans participating in this evening’s events are Laulauga Tasaga-Collins who formally raced for Iowa and Kat Moody, native of Waukee will be throwing in the first round of the Women’s Discus which will start at 7:00 p.m. Participating alongside Reed in the 110-meter Hurdles is former Iowa Hawkeye, Jamal Britt, in the fourth heat in lane four. Iowa State’s Janette Schraft of Glenwood High School will run in the Women’s 3,000 Steeplechase in the first round starting at 7:59 p.m. Following her will be Karissa Schweizer of Dowling Catholic High School who will run in the Women’s 5,000-meter final starting at 9:09 p.m.
