(Iowa City) Tuition is going up at Iowa’s three public universities this fall. Iowa’s Board of Regents approved across-the-board rate hikes yesterday for the upcoming academic year. The increase comes despite graduate students asking for a tuition freeze.
Undergraduate tuition at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa will increase by three percent, and tuition at the University of Northern Iowa will increase by two percent.
The cost of tuition for in-state undergrads will be $9,286 at the UI, $9,252 at Iowa State, and $8,564 at UNI for the 2024-25 year.
Out-of-state undergrads’ tuition will triple or nearly double that of in-state students, with the University of Iowa’s non-resident tuition increasing to $31,374 for the next school year.
The Board of Regents says the tuition hikes will help the universities address inflationary costs and help support student success initiatives.
