(Anita, IA) – The CAM Cougars baseball team currently sits with a record of 6-5 on the season with a couple of winnable games ahead of them. The Cougars were able to bounce back with a couple of victories against Southwest Valley and Fremont-Mills after dropping back-to-back games to Lenox and Coon Rapids-Bayard. CAM has three games upcoming on the schedule against Boyer Valley, Glidden-Ralston, and Ar-We-Va, who have a combined record of 6-20.
Head Coach Drew Ticknor says they have some things to work on, but hopes they can win these games to be in a better position come the postseason.
CAM has been seeing the ball and hitting the ball well this year behind the likes of senior Jack Follmann batting .438 on the season. As a team this season the Cougars currently bat .332, the best team average in the Rolling Valley Conference. They also have an on-base percentage of .471 good enough for first in the conference as well.
Ticknor believes his guys are seeing the ball well, leading to their team average.
The Cougars are currently being led to their success this season by a lot of junior baseball players. The Cougars have six juniors who have started at least half of their games this season. Most of them have been starting games since their freshman year of baseball. The class is helping lead the ball club back to winning ways after finishing the year with a record of 9-13 a year ago, the Cougars are just one win streak away from equaling that total with still multiple weeks left to go in the season.
Ticknor believes the leadership they show is helping his ball club this season.
