(Oakland, IA) – The Riverside girl’s soccer program is back and ready to work hard this season. Despite having a shoutout loss to Council Bluffs Jefferson to kick off the season, Head Coach Kayla Harris is happy with the effort, teamwork, and communication that was displayed by her girls out on the field.
While the Riverside Bulldogs have not had a girl’s soccer program in over three years, these girls are working hard in practice and are preparing to show other teams what they are made of. The Bulldogs feature two leaders who have soccer experience in the past Carly Henderson and Bailey Richardson. Three players that have already started to step up both in games and in practices are Becca and Sarah Cody alongside Brecken Pierce who are forming into some top position players on the field.
Riverside features a total of 23 girls this season who go out to work hard day in and day out. These are girls who are looking to continue to grow the program while building a culture of Riverside girl’s soccer.
The Bulldogs are looking to improve in a few different categories. Those categories range from confidence on the field, communication, stronger defensive presence, and articulated ball movement.
This week gives the Bulldogs time to reflect on their loss to Council Bluffs Jefferson and look ahead to next Tuesday’s match against Denison-Schleswig. Coach Harris is looking for this game to irradiate confidence within her team while focusing on the effort, teamwork, and communication aspects of the team.
Riverside hosts Denison-Schleswig on Tuesday, April 9th at 5:00 p.m.
