(NAFB) As spring arrives, many homeowners are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to get their hands dirty in the garden. As you look for new flower or vegetable seeds you want to plant this year, take a moment to also look at the seeds you may still have from previous years as those may still be viable.
Lisa Johnson is the University of Wisconsin Extension Horticulture Specialist, and she says there’s an easy way to find out if your old seeds are still usable. It’s called the seed roll test.
Once seeds are selected, proper planting techniques are essential for successful growth.
The next step is to ensure optimal temperatures for seed starting. Timing is also critical when starting seeds. Just because they’re available to buy doesn’t mean it’s time to plant.
As gardening enthusiasts prepare for the upcoming season, it’s essential to avoid common mistakes.
Furthermore, when it comes to planting trees and shrubs, careful planning is necessary.
While pruning can promote healthy growth when done correctly, improper timing can have adverse effects on plant health.
