(Montgomery Co.) A tractor and hay bales were destroyed Sunday afternoon in a fire in Montgomery County.
The Red Oak Fire Department reports firefighters were dispatched at approximately 1:57 p.m. to 2081 170th Street for a reported tractor and hay bale fire. The Red Oak, Stanton and Elliott fire departments responded.
While firefighters were en route, they were advised that the tractor had become fully engulfed in flames.
Farmers at the scene had already established a fire break to the north, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to multiple additional rows of hay bales.
An excavator was also used at the scene to assist firefighters and farmers by burying bales after they had been extinguished.
Fire ground operations were completed at approximately 4:32 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Responding and assisting agencies included the Red Oak Fire Department, Stanton Fire Department, Elliott Fire Department, Montgomery County Communications, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Red Oak Police Department.
Several local farmers also assisted with equipment, along with Gohlinghorst Excavation Company.
