(Ames, IA) – Iowa State’s successful tournament run for the men’s basketball team had to end sometime. Unfortunately with that end, comes the end of some players in a Cyclone uniform.
With an announcement on Sunday, Iowa State men’s basketball player Omaha Biliew announced that he is entering the transfer portal. After playing earlier in the season and seeing his minutes wind down as the season winded down to a close, Biliew looked to better options ahead outside of Iowa State.
On a post to X Billew wrote, I want to thank ‘all for the unconditional love and support that y’all have shown me, which was clearly evident in my time here as a Cyclone. Unfortunately, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal. This was a very difficult decision. Being embraced as a Cyclone from my coaches, teammates, and especially the fanbase, will always have a special place in my heart! Thanks again to one of the best basketball atmospheres in the world!”
The Waukee native averaged 2.4 points and 1.3 boards per game while playing in over 20 games this season. He never flowed inside with that seven-man rotation as the #8 man on the bench for Otzelberger and his team.
Biliew is now just the fourth Cyclone to leave the success of the program behind as he looks to create success for another team next season.
