(Griswold, IA) – Griswold has announced the hiring of Aaron Houser as the new Head Girl’s Basketball Coach. After Ryan Lockwood moved to become the head coach of the boy’s basketball program, Houser filled right into the role. Houser said that moving from the assistant position to the head coaching position was one of the easiest decisions he’s ever had to make.
Looking into Houser’s previous experience, he formally played at Griswold in high school and has been coaching for a total of 18 years. He recently moved up to the varsity assistant position last season and now has jumped into the head coaching position.
Griswold achieved a 6-16 record last season which marked one of the best records for the Griswold girl’s program since the 2018-19 season. Coach Lockwood started to implement a rebuilding system that helped the Tigers see success on the hardwood. Houser is just looking to obtain that system and keep pushing it forward as they have so much potential to be one of the top programs in the Corner Conference.
While Coach Houser is moving up to the head coaching position, he is looking to continue the same coach-player relationship with the girls. That includes pushing the girls just as hard in practice and expecting the highest standards out of his athletes.
Aaron Houser will take over a program that finished 6-16 overall and 4-9 in Corner Conference play.
