(Adel) ADM’s quick start led to a 70-49 victory over Atlantic in a Class 3A Substate 8 quarterfinal at ADM on Monday night.
The Tigers were led by Hudson Lorensen, who scored 21 points, followed by Adam Bryte with 16 and Rylan Stine-Smith with 11. Meanwhile, Colton Rasmussen led Atlantic with 22 points, ending the season with 615. Gavin McLaren was on fire in the second half, scoring 14 points, including four three-point shots.
ADM started strong, scoring 20 points in the first and 23 in the second quarters while holding the Trojans to just six and seven points, respectively. Lorensen was unstoppable in the second quarter, scoring three shots from beyond the arc, while Stine-Smith fired two long-range missiles, helping the Tigers take a commanding 43-13 lead at halftime.
Despite the huge lead, the Trojans didn’t give up, playing the home team evenly in the third quarter, with both teams scoring 16 points. Atlantic outscored ADM in the fourth quarter, 20-11. Gavin McLaren continued to shine in the second half, making four three-point shots, while Rasmussen hit two bombs for the Trojans. Atlantic’s 6’9 senior, Thomas Leonard, came off the bench in the game’s waning moments, knocked down a deep three-point swisher from the top of the key, and scored two more on a putback.

The Trojans ended their season with a 7-14 record. ADM extends its record to 19-3 and will face Raccoon River Conference rival Carroll in a Substate 8 semifinal on Thursday.
