(Atlantic) Atlantic and Harlan square off for the first time this season in a Hawkeye Ten Conference boys’ basketball game on Tuesday night at Harlan. The Trojans enter the contest with a 3-6 conference record and a mark of 5-13 overall. Harlan is 6-3 in Conference play and 9-7 in all games.
Atlantic Head Coach Dalton Franken says Harlan has a nice rotation of players with inside presence, notably 6’3-inch forward Joseph Reisz and 6’5 forward Franz Reisz.
Franken admits they cannot just key on the post guys because they kick it out to three-point shooters Jason Erlmeier, Brehden Eggerss, and Will Arkfeld, who have made 44, 19, and 18 long-range shots, respectively, so far this season.
Colton Rasmussen enters the contest as the Class 3A scoring leader with 501 points. Nolan Waters has been providing offensive support and is coming off a 20-point effort last Friday night against Denison-Schleswig.
Coach Franken says one of the main goals on Tuesday will be patience on offense.
We will have the broadcast on 95.7 F.M. and live stream on westerniowatoday.com. The pre-game for the girls starts at 5:45, with the boy’s game to follow.
