(Atlantic) The Atlantic girls had a breakout game on Tuesday night at home against Clarinda.
Atlantic offensive leader Paytn Harter scored 18 points and snagged 17 rebounds to lead the Trojans past the Cardinals 53-40. Katrina Williams complimented Harter’s performance with 11 points.
Williams scored seven of her eleven points in the first quarter. Maddie Cole nailed three-three-point shots in the first eight minutes to keep her squad close 16-13. The game stayed that way into the second stanza, with the Trojans holding a 26-21 advantage at the break.
The home team made their get-away in the third frame, outscoring the Cardinals 20-7, led by Harter’s 11 third-quarter points. Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason says they did not make any major adjustments.
